89. DIAMOND CIRCULATE Starting formation - Any Diamond. The centers of
the diamond do a Diamond Circulate to the next position in their diamond, changing
his original facing direction one-quarter (90 degrees) toward the center of the
diamond. Points become centers, and vice versa. If the call is directed to facing
diamonds, all must pass right shoulders.

The caller should move the dancers into a Diamond formation.
This is the first time the dancers have been exposed to Diamonds. It is very
important that the caller explain this formation. The dancers should be told that
Diamonds, is a four dancer formation. There will always be two people holding
or touching hands. They are called CENTERS. There will be a dancer on either
side of the centers. They are called POINTS. Depending on how well the caller
explain the elements of the Diamond will effect future learning of Diamonds
commands.

There are several types of Diamonds in square dancing as there are in real life.
At the Plus level we have Normal Diamonds, which the caller should have position
the dancers, End to End Diamonds, Face to Face Diamonds. The caller will
probably only want to teach Normal Diamonds at the first session.
In a Diamond Circulate, the dancer will find the path (circle) in their foursome.
They should be instructed to Circulate as they would in any other formation.
That is they will walk to the spot of the person in front of them. They will always
turn 1/4 toward the center of their Diamond.

At the session in which the caller is teaching Face to Face Diamonds, the dancers
will be reminded that when they meet another dancer coming toward them they
will pass Right Shoulders with each other. They will still proceed to the position

in front of them and turn 1/4 toward the center of their Diamond.

The caller should now have the dancers do a Diamond Circulate or two until they
mentally see the path they will follow.
