96. CUT THE DIAMOND: Starting formation - Any Diamond. The centers of the
diamond do a Diamond Circulate to the next position in their diamond, while the
points slide together and Trade. Ends in a line or wave.

After creating a Diamond formation, the callers should reemphasize:
1. The positions of the Diamond - Centers, Points
2. That a Diamond is a four dancer fourmation.
3. That there are several types of Diamonds. Name them if desired.
4. That even though there seems to be a Wave down the center, this
is not true until the caller establishes the wave with a call that does.

The only thing that the caller must teach new, if Flip the diamond has already
been taught, is that the Points must slide together, join inside hands and Trade.
Many dancers will confuse the two calls, Flip - Cut the Diamond, until they
have heard and danced them several time. The caller should give extra
emphisas on the word Flip or Cut when the dancers are learning. Therefore:

The callers should establish Diamonds. Tell the Center dancers to do a normal
Diamond Circulate. Tell the Points that they will take a sliding step or two toward
each other, without turning, join hands and turn 1/2.

Cut the Diamond from a formation where all dancers can Circulate either clockwise
or counter clockwise will result in Two Faced Lines. Face to Face Diamonds will
result in Waves.
